Brooklyn Borough Park Public Library 2021
The subject of interest is a revamp initiative for the Brooklyn Borough Park Public Library, whose primary objective is to devise a facade strategy that optimally distributes natural illumination throughout the library's interior. The ultimate aim of the library is to foster a sense of interconnectivity amongst both the youth and the adult population to encourage social congregation within the Brooklyn community. The building comprises a sizable, circular communal area, as well as distinct public and private reading zones, with each area possessing unique lighting qualities obtained from an assortment of contrasts between light and shadows. The proposed facade will consist of red bricks arranged in diverse densities to create diverse daytime visual effects. The central oculus communal space will serve as the brightest focal point, thereby accentuating the notion of a central gathering hub for the community. In essence, this is a library that embodies an atmosphere of erudition, literature, and recreation.

DAYLIGHTING NARRATIVE
The expansive atrium acts like a kaleidoscope, capturing and redirecting light along the nooks and crannies of the bookshelves to create ever changing light patterns. The dynamic interplay between light and space creates a mesmerizing, fluid time-lapse effect, which is enhanced by people transitioning past the scattered rays of light. Gazing upwards, the vast expanse of sky commands one's attention, creating an immersive experience that encourages contemplation and comfort, under a palette of serene hues of blue.
Light and shadow are competing and cooperating to achieve a sense of solemnity and serenity. The evenly washed light on each curved panel heightens the void through its rise and fall of whispering sequence. The atmosphere floats through space, across some walls and dies away through time. The light washes across the panels like a bare canvas, with the most powerful brightness fading to tints of sky and cloud.

ELECTRIC LIGHTING NARRATIVE
Soft, delicate, and warm light gently brushes across the brick texture, exuding a captivating aura that accentuates the layers of the building's structure. This imitation of natural light casts an indirect glow upon the central cylindrical bookshelf, making it the centerpiece of the entire space. As night falls, the diminishing light seeps through the crevices in the building's facade, allowing the building to appear as a tranquil and radiant entity amidst the darkened environment.
