Technical Charrette 2020
Using the Starr Foundation Room at the University Center as our project site, we are assigned a set of three program types for this site, that have varied lighting needs/requirements. A comprehensive list of program types is as follows:
● Workshop
● Dinner
● Yoga
● Classroom
● Counseling
● Lecture
Our task is to design a cohesive lighting scheme that will support all three assigned programmatic uses within this single architectural space, using a given palette of five lighting fixture types:
● Recessed downlight/wall washer
● Linear LED grazer/cove
● LED tape light
● Track Lighting Fixtures
● Linear LED Channel (recessed, surface, or suspended)
We need to consider the aesthetic qualities of the design, the main focus will be on identifying and designing to target illuminance requirements and lighting power density requirements for our program types.
